We all carry shields. Mostly uncounciously and adjusted to our usual
superficial social requests concerning our self-performance: wearing
appeal, appearence, fashion.
The work of painter Iris however gets to the root of this
matter: shield in contrast to a mask is not disguise and conceal but
Men use shields to present themselfes to the powers that encircle them:
to wind and water, sun, light, to coldness and warmth, plants, animals
and human beeings, to the unknown, to life: to GODS and GODESSES.
Shield is mirror which throws its pictures to both sides.
